Mary Coughlan is in line to become the next chairperson of Donegal GAA and the first woman in the role.
Coughlan now stands unopposed for the job after former chairman Sean Dunnion and Coughlan’s St Naul’s clubmate Cieran Kelly pulled out.
The former Tánaiste will contest the position at the county convention on 13 December.
Coughlan, who currently serves as the St Naul’s club secretary, will succeed outgoing Chairman Fergus McGee as he steps down after just one year.
Just four women have held the county chairperson role across the country since the foundation of the GAA.
