Gardaí have appealed for information after hundreds of euro worth of work tools were stolen from a van outside Ballybofey at the weekend.
The theft was one of two that occurred in the neighbouring townlands of Glencovitt and Knock.
A van was parked at an address in Glencovitt and it was broken into between 4pm on Sunday and 6.30am yesterday morning. Entry was gained to the van and a number of tools were stolen.
The items included a Milwaukee battery grease gun, a Milwaukee cordless drill, a Milwaukee half inch rattle gun, a tool bag containing sockets. They also stole two Bahco socket sets and a very distinctive ‘Zebra’ industrial tablet which had a hard case. This tablet in particular is very unique and will stand out should anybody be offered it for sale.
Meanwhile, a car parked at an address in the nearby townland of Knock was also broken into between 9pm on Sunday and 7am yesterday morning. The car, which was unlocked, contained a beige MK purse containing bank cards and cash which were stolen.
“We appeal to residents in the areas of Glencovitt and Ballybofey to check around their property, check garden sheds, parked cars etc to establish whether or not anything was stolen from them between these dates. Please alert Gardaí if you think that anything may have been taken,” Garda Grainne Doherty said.
In addition, if anybody observed any suspicious activity in these areas overnight on Sunday night into Monday morning, they are asked to make contact with Gardaí in Letterkenny on 0749167100. Should anybody come across any of the tools for sale, please alert Gardaí immediately. The Garda Confidential line may be contacted on 1800 666 111.
