A flurry of bets on the odds on snowfall in Donegal on Christmas day has reached 4/1.
Thermometers have dipped to subzero levels this week with temperatures as low as -3°C reported, but the chances of a white Christmas are on the up according to the latest odds.
Met Éireann has also warned of wintry showers this weekend as the cold snap shows no sign of making a hasty exit.
With less than a month to go, punters around the country are starting to bank on the chances of snow on the big day, with odds now being offered on Donegal airport turning white this Christmas.
With warnings that snow is set to arrive even earlier in northern parts, BoyleSports has revealed shorter odds of 4/1 for Donegal Airport as well as Belfast International Airport. The odds on snowfall in Dublin on Christmas day were slashed to 6/1 from 10/1.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Punters may be feeling the chill this week, but they’re very hot on the chances of snow next month so the cold snap has taken a significant bite out of our white Christmas odds already.”
