Margo O’Donnell “came home” yesterday for a special afternoon singing for 230 guests in Dungloe.
Day centre attendees from across the Rosses were invited to a winter concert with the Queen of Country at the Waterfront Hotel.
Margo had generously given her time to be there for the day, but as much as the guests enjoyed her music, it was Margo herself who was so grateful for the opportunity to spend time with so many wonderful people.
The event was organised by Mary Rodgers from the Maghery Senior Social Club who put in trojan work bringing neighbouring day centres and local groups together.
In a heartfelt poem to Mary and the crowd, Margo said: “When Mary asked me to come home to sing for all of you, it was my greatest pleasure because I love every one of you,
“Thank you Mary Rodgers for bringing us together,
“This day was very special and it will stay with me forever.”
The afternoon was a day of meeting friends, singing, dancing and making memories. Among the attendees were guests from Arranmore, Annagry, Dungloe, Leitirmacaward, patients from Dungloe hospital, clients from The Angle, Tobar, Park House, Teach Inishal, Inishfree and Owey and local groups, The North West ladies group and the VIP’S (Social club for Visually Impaired Persons).
A great day was had by all, and the show was topped off with a performance from The Three Marys – Mary McGee, Mary Jo Bonner and Mary Rodgers, who will soon release their album!
With thanks to Mary Rodgers for the photos.
