The already stretched Donegal Donkey Sanctuary has appealed for help after the rescue of six more animals.
The ‘lost and bedraggled souls’ were recovered to the safety of the haven last night.
“They were scared and hungry and with shocking hooves they tucked into their food before dropping onto their deep straw beds to rest,” a spokesperson for the sanctuary said.
“We are so happy to have them in our care, but such a large intake in an already full yard is going to increase financial pressure a great deal. The price of hay and straw is at an unprecedented high with the long winter months stretching ahead. They are relying on us and we will do everything in our power to have full tummies and warm beds for all,” they added.
If you can help in any way, please donate via the GoFundMe link which was set up earlier this year.
