The Ballybofey, Stranorlar & District Historical Society unveiled its bumper tenth ‘Annual’ at the weekend.

The publication was launched in Kee’s Hotel, Stranorlar, by none other than esteemed local resident, Ethna Kelly.

This year’s annual has some very interesting articles on the likes of Henry McGowan, The Paddy McCafferty Band, Simi Doherty’s traditional musical family and MP James Boyle from Stranorlar to name a few. Sean O’Kane also has an article on the businesses and people who lived in Glenfin Street while he lived there. Priced at just €10, the annual can be purchased in local shops or by contacting any member of the society.

Membership of the society is rising  all the time, so if you are interested in local history, come and join them at their next event. Meetings and talks take place on the fourth Monday of the month.

The meeting is at 7.30pm in The Henderson Hall, Stranorlar, opposite the Church of Ireland and behind Robertson National School (F93 XV29).

For further information on the society, and updates, go to their Facebook page or email bsadhs@gmail.com
