Donegal-born Troy Gallagher is to be given the Freedom of London at a ceremony later on today.
The Islington Councillor and former Mayor of Islington is to be given the award at the Freedom Ceremony in the city, in honour of his contributions to the London community.
Troy, who emigrated from Donegal to London in the 90s first for his education at Oxford, and then to begin a career in the civil service, has represented Labour on the Islington Borough Council since 2010.
As Mayor of Islington in 2021 and 2022, he also hosted a number of events in the borough celebrating the Irish heritage of many who live there.
