This week’s Dunkineely/Bruckless/Killaghtee Community Notes are out.
Bug Hotel
Our local bugs can look forward to Spring as our “It’s a Bugs Life” project gets the go ahead.
Funded by the Changemakers “Seeds of Change” grant, we will be building bug hotels in both Bruckless Park and in Dunkineely.
We hope to see the little critters move in as they come out of hibernation in the spring. Look out for talks on why insects are so important to us next Easter!

Craft Fair
There will be a craft fair on 25th November at Killaghtee Church Hall.
11am to 4pm. Stalls are €15 each.

Wind Farm
An Bord Pleanála has refused planning permission for the construction of a wind turbine in Bruckless.
This confirms a decision made by Donegal County Council last year, after appeal.
The company sought permission for the construction of a turbine with a tip height of 150m and with an operational lifespan of 30 years.
They also sought permission for the construction of a control building, upgrading of the site entrance, a site access road of 195m and underground cabling at Multins, Buckless.
The permission has been denied under the County Donegal Development Plan 2018-2024, which specifies the location as not suitable for a wind farm.
Bruckless NS
Big thanks to Topline McGuinness for sponsoring the school’s new jerseys!
Carmel and her son Mark (a past pupil) popped in to unveil our fabulous O’Reilly jerseys featuring the new crest and their store logo. Topline McGuinness have been amazing supporters to Bruckless NS for many years now and we very much appreciate their latest donation. The kids absolutely love them and Mr. O’Toole is very happy with the colours.

Dunkineely Celtic FC
Donegal Physiotherapy D2: The team played Deele Harps on 5 th November at home and Drumoghill on 12 th November at home. The team lost both matches, but manager Ryan Mackey is optimistic for the future and that the team will continue to give their all.
“It’s been challenging, obviously, with numbers at the start of the season with things such as emigration, boys playing other sports and boys working on the weekends,” he said.
“Slowly, we are improving. Over the past few games, the performances have been outstanding but maybe our fitness towards the end of the game, or not having the extra few lads for the bench, has helped the other team in scoring those extra couple of goals. We have never been that far behind the other teams, obviously the results say different but the performances have been good so far and so we are really hoping to kick on from that.”
Their next match is versus Drumkeen United away, on 19 th November at 1pm. As always, they have our support!
Lottery: Dunkineely Celtic Lotto results for 30 th October were 1, 6, 7, 27.
There was no Jackpot winner. Consolation prizes of €20 each went to Gerrard Ellison, Barry Donnelly and Carmel McDaid.

U12 Boys Allianz Rewards Pitch Day: The 22 nd October was an early start for the boys and their families, departing Páirc Naomh Ultan at 5:30am. That didn’t hamper their anticipation and
excitement however, they arrived safely to GAA Headquarters at 11am.
And the main event… A fantastic opportunity to grace the hallowed turf of Croke Park!
After getting to play and get photographs on the pitch, all the players, coaches and families had an opportunity to get pictures with the Sam Maguire cup! The bus stopped in the Lakeside Manor Hotel in Co. Cavan en route home after a fantastic day, all the players were presented plaques by the competition winner Ciaran Cunningham which truly rounded off a tremendous day.
U15s: The U15s had a brilliant day out at the 2023 U15 Ulster Provincial Super Games Football Blitz in the Meadowbank Sports Arena, Magherafelt last Sunday.
A great experience for them all to play against clubs throughout Ulster in a top class indoor facility.
The day was topped off by a stop off in Omagh for some McDonalds and a trip to the O’Neills Sports Superstore. There’s word circulating about a few boys on the team who are not only skilled footballers but also possess impressive singing talents!
Many thanks to coaches Peter McFarlane, Shane Reynolds and Dermot McGlynn for travelling over and facilitating a great day for the boys!
