Maguire, who has been surfing since he was 11, is no stranger to dramatic conditions. In 2020, he surfed what may be Ireland’s largest ever swell at Mullaghmore, when the weather aligned to create record-breaking 60ft waves.
Previously, he has been nominated for six World Surf League Big Wave Awards since 2015. Indeed, he was the youngest European to be shortlisted for the World Surf League Big Wave Awards.
