Actor Adrian Dunbar has pleaded with the public to get behind a plan to build a Brian Friel Centre in Donegal.
The Line of Duty star is one of the driving forces behind the centre in the town of Glenties where one of Friel’s most famous plays Dancing at Lughnasa is set.
The project is already up and running but organisers need €50,000 to take it to the next stage.
Dunbar pleaded with anybody who has ever had any connection with Brian Friel or his plays to put their hand in their pockets.
Watch here:
He said “If like me you’ve had the privilege of working with Brian Friel, being in his plays, directing them or even if your life has been changed by reading Brian’s plays or seeing them on stage which has happened many, many people, you’ll be interested in this Go Fund Me page.
“For some time now Brian’s family and his friends have been working hard to raise the money to build a destination building or find a destination building in Glenties in County Donegal.
“This is a great initiative and this Go Fund Me page is starting the project for us so please give generously.”
The Brian Friel Trust was established in 2017 to found a ‘Brian Friel Centre’, honouring his rich cultural legacy.
