Jozef Puska has been found guilty of the murder of 23-year-old Ashling Murphy.
The jury of nine men and three women delivered a unanimous verdict this afternoon.
Puska, aged 33, with an address at Lynally Grove, Mucklagh, Co. Offaly is expected to be sentenced to the mandatory term of life in prison.
Puska had pleaded not guilty to murdering Ms Aisling Murphy at Cappincur, Tullamore, Co. Offaly on January 12, 2022.
The court heard that Puska murdered Ashling Murphy by stabbing her repeatedly in the neck. The defence said that he claimed to be stabbed by the same person who attacked the 23-year-old school teacher.
Mr Justice Hunt said that Puska’s evidence was ‘nonsense’ and that victim impact statements will be heard from Ashling Murpy’s family before Jozef Puska is formally sentenced.
