A wake like no other is taking place this Monday in memory of legendary local musician, Ted Ponsonby.
Ted was a master musician, engineer and producer who sadly passed away in September.
The Letterkenny man’s incredible 60 years in music will be celebrated with a charity concert and storytelling night at the Clanree Hotel this Monday, 6th November, from 8pm.
The ‘Wakin’ Ted’ is a musical wake packed with some of the best bluegrass and trad rock artists around. Traditional wakes are full of mixed emotions, nostalgia and craic, and this will be no different.
The event is open to everyone, and promises to be a night of laughter, tears and reminiscence, as attendees share their stories and pay tribute to the life of this beloved musician.
The incredible line-up is a testament to Ted’s many musical connections. Artists include Mark Black, The Mindbenders, The Henry Girls, Tanya McCole, Raw, to name but a few.
There is no cover charge, but those who wish to donate to a worthy cause are encouraged to contribute to “The Friends of Letterkenny Hospital,” whose buckets will be available at the door.
