A driver has been arrested under suspicion of drug driving in the Letterkenny area today.
The detection was made during a checkpoint as part of the Bank Holiday Weekend road safety operation.
Reports from the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit indicate that a number of other road traffic offences were detected.
Gardaí are reminding all drivers to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety on the road this weekend.
“Arrive alive this Bank Holiday Weekend. Do not take unnecessary risks on the roads. Wear your seatbelt, slow down, do not use/hold your mobile phone while driving and do not drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Make road safety a priority to help save lives,” a spokesperson said.
