The Crossroads and Killygordon Wednesday Club for older people had a thoroughly enjoyable trip to west Donegal last week.
Almost 40 members took in a number of local attractions before enjoying a meal and, of course, plenty of music and dancing at the famous Leo’s Tavern in Crolly.
The lunch was superb, followed by music and dancing to the excellent resident musician, Hughie. He was ably assisted by the Wednesday Club’s Josie Carlin, Herbie Stevenson and Dougie Walsh. The proprietor, Bartley Brennan, finished the entertainment with a fine version of ‘The Rattlin Bog.’
Overall, a great day out was enjoyed by all and they hope to be back in Leo’s again next year.
The club meets weekly at the CAKE Centre and has become a very popular meeting place for the older people of the parish. Events include bingo, card playing, dominoes, drafts, music, art painting ,craic and plenty of tea, coffee and scones. The club also has a very successful Kurling team. Kurling is proving very popular as it is a great way of keeping fit, without being too physically challenging. The Wednesday Club continues every week at the Oaktree Centre, from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm
The organisers say more people are welcome to call in and avail of the facilities there as well as taking part in various day trips throughout the year.
