Up and coming Donegal actor Colm Mac Giolla Easbuic has been nominated as the Young Star of the Year 2023 in the Ghradam Cumarsáide an Oireachtais.
The Oireachtas as it is traditionally known takes place from the 1st to the 5th of November annually and this year it’s back in the INEC in Killarney again.
Colm Mac Giolla Easbuic’s profile is growing across the Irish language community, the Gaeltacht regions and not just in Donegal.
He’s now in his second season with the hugely popular TG4 soap Ros na Rún which is now in its 28th season and is the largest artistic production outside of Dublin and the only rural based TV drama on Irish TV.

Colm Mac Giolla Easbuic is a member of Ros na Rún’s Daly family and he plays the part of Mánus Ó Direáin alongside renowned Donegal Gaeltacht Actors Niall Mac Earmharcaigh – John Joe Daly his on-screen father and Gavin O Fearraigh plays his onscreen brother Conall. Ros na Rún has always featured a strong Donegal community of actors. There’s also Máire Uí Rabhartaigh from Donegal who plays Nóirín Daly, John Joe’s ex wife.
Along with his growing role on TG4’s Ros na Rún, Colm Mac Giolla Easbuic has made a strong contribution to the Irish language and gaeltacht community from a young age and has had parallel success with the Irish Language broadcaster, Raidio na Gaeltachta’s newsroom.
He’s nominated alongside his Ros na Rún colleague and fellow actor Connemara native and rising star, Ciara Cox who plays the part of Maeve and was also the lead Ella in TG4’s brand new teenage drama series Saol Ella this year.
