The rich railway tourism once enjoyed in Donegal will be explored in a new RTE programme airing this Sunday 22nd October.
This Sunday Oct 22nd at 6.30pm, The Records Show visits Bundoran to meet with Brian Mc Eniff, from the Mc Eniff Hoteliers, founders of the Holyrood and Hamilton hotels.
Through a study of the National Archives, the show will find out more about the Irish tourism industry in the 1950s to 70s. Presenter Katie Hannon discusses Bord Fáilte Tourism documents from the 1970s about the growing hotel industry in Ireland with Brian.
The Records Show is a two-part series which takes Katie Hannon from the abandoned railway tracks of Donegal to life-changing houses in Clonakilty and an airport on a bog in Co Mayo. Viewers can follow Katie digging out previously undisturbed documents, before heading out across the country to follow the trail of the stories behind them.
Produced by Midas Productions. This series is commissioned by RTÉ in association with the National Archives and is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Decade of Centenaries Programme, 2012 – 2023.
