A Status Yellow rain warning for Donegal will remain in place until 8pm tonight.
The rain, however, will be heaviest in the south of the country, according to Met Éireann forecasters.
Storm Babet will bring a risk of localised flooding, reduced visibility and dangerous road conditions.
The UK Met Office has also issued a Yellow Rain Warning for six counties across the North.
Generally, it will be mostly cloudy today across Ulster with outbreaks of rain moving in, turning heavy and persistent in the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees, in fresh and gusty east to southeast winds.
There will be further spells of rain tonight with heavy falls bringing the chance of flooding. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in moderate southeast breezes.
