A Dáil debate about the current Letterkenny University Hospital crisis did not go ahead last night after Health Minister Stephen Donnelly did not attend.
Sinn Fein Deputies, Pádraig MacLochlainn and Pearse Doherty, were due to discuss the need for an external LUH review during Topical Issues. However, they requested it to be deferred until the Minister was in attendance.
Deputy MacLochlainn questioned why they were not made aware the minister would not be attending the debate, claiming it was against protocol.
Last week, a letter signed by almost 80 Donegal GPs was sent to the Minister highlighting major concerns over patient safety at the LUH Emergency Department. Hospital consultants also raised similar issues this week.
