Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has won the Health & Wellness Award at the 2023 Diversity in Tech Awards that were held at The RDS Concert Hall last week.
The Diversity in Tech Awards shine a light on organisations striving to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace. In recognising the broad efforts of promoting diversity in the workplace, the Diversity in Tech Awards were split into two category areas; Diversity in Tech and Women in Tech.
TCS took home the Health & Wellness Award on the night. This award celebrates an individual, team or network that is championing wellness within the workplace in order to maintain a positive and productive environment for all employees.
Speaking about TCS’ award win Melanie Robinson, Senior HR Associate at TCS, said: “I’m delighted to receive this award on behalf of TCS for Health & Wellness at the Diversity in Tech Awards 2023. The team at TCS are passionate about promoting and embedding health and wellness in our Letterkenny campus and into the wider TCS company culture. It is an honour to be among this year’s award winners and we are very grateful to the judges for recognising our commitment to Health & Wellness in the Tech industry.”
The TCS HR department liaises with TCS’ health and wellness partners to ensure that a wide and varied range of offerings are provided to TCS employees and have utilised previous wellbeing data, health insurance claims and information on current challenges within the TCS work environment to identify areas of concern and implement targeted programmes to address these.
In the past year alone they have arranged mental health workshops for employees, managers and HR; 1:1 consultations with wellbeing experts including financial advisors, psychologists and ergonomics assessors; GP seminars on menopause awareness, cancer awareness and managing cardiovascular risk factors; cultural awareness workshop; diabetes and cholesterol screening; flu vaccinations; high profile marquee speakers to present on topical issues such as building resilience, mindfulness, increasing confidence and motivation and financial wellness.
The team have also arranged programmes to support TCS mental health ambassadors and mental health first responders, arranged a comprehensive and varied itinerary of 20 events in conjunction with IBEC and Laya healthcare to mark National Workplace Wellbeing Day including a lunchtime mile challenge and a ‘Wellbeing Day’. For the Wellness Day, employees had the opportunity to avail of massage and reflexology, ergonomics consultations, drop by the Marie Keating Foundation and Laya Healthcare information desks, and attend seminars on cancer awareness/prevention and the 24/7 Mental Wellbeing Support Programme.
TCS has a very valuable employee assistance program and the HR team builds awareness and encourages utilisation of this service as well as utilization of their healthcare provider’s wellbeing portal and extended healthcare benefits.
TCS also launched the Mental Health Ambassador program an important resource for employees which required a lot of work to organise behind the scenes.
Commenting on the award win, Leeanne Patterson, Head of Human Resources TCS Letterkenny Global Delivery Centre, said: “We are delighted to have won this year’s Health & Wellness Award at the Diversity in Tech Awards. Our HR team have done so much within TCS to shine a light the importance of employee health and wellness in the workplace. They do an outstanding job of identifying suitable wellbeing programmes and solutions to support employee needs. I am so glad to see the team’s contribution to creating a positive working culture at TCS has been recognised by the judges of this year’s awards.”
