Glencar Inn Saturday Division One
Cappry Rovers Reserves 1 v 0 Kilmacrennan Celtic Reserves
In a game that was reversed to the Letterkenny Community Centre it was Cappry who emerged victorious with a real smash and grab performance. An early strike from Eoghan Wright put Cappry in front and from then onwards it was attack against defence as Kilmacrennan piled on the pressure but despite all the play and numerous chances, they just couldn’t breach a strong Cappry rearguard that was well marshalled by Sean Ryan and Shaun O’ Donnell. Kilmacrennan’s Conor Gibson had a penalty saved by the impressive Dylan Doherty whilst Edwin Doherty, Cormac Brady, Ciaran Mc Cormack and Gibson again all missed opportunities to level the tie but Cappry held out for an important three points. Glencar Celtic 10 v 2 Glenea United Reserves
Glencar we’re to strong for a young Glenea side and we’re 8-1 up at half time with goals from Pajo x 2, Joe Mc Carron x 2, Joe Baker x 2, Tarlach O’Boyle and Paddy Collins. Glencar started the second half with Pajo Rafferty completing his hat-trick and then Ronan Frain finished the scoring off in the 90th minute.
Keadue Rovers Reserves 1 v 0 Strand Rovers
Keadue Rovers Reserves maintained their good start to the season with this hard-fought single goal victory in a tight, tense, derby in front of a big crowd in challenging conditions at Central Park. The opening fifteen minutes of play were scrappy with neither side able to gain any advantage but as the half went on Keadue, aided by a stiff breeze, began to get the upper hand and Oisin Mc Kelvey in particular was causing problems to the Strand rearguard. It was on twenty-seven minutes when the only goal of the game arrived. Following some good work down the right-hand side, the ball made it’s way to Mc Kelvey on the edge of the area and following some superb footwork he flicked it into the right corner of the net. Strand did come more into the game as it went on towards half-time with Matthew O’ Donnell’s effort just wide of the left post. Into the 2nd half and with the wind at their backs it was Strand who started off on the front foot, pushing Keadue back, but in terms of openings, they didn’t really test the keeper. The home defence kept a high line all the time which led to a few nervous moments. Good chances fell to both Ryan Greene and Cian Mc Gee for Strand but both shot wide. At the other end, Aaron Ward had a good shot well saved by Damien Mc Gowan. As the end of the game came, both sides dug in and there were some well contested challenges on the ground and in the air, as expected in a local derby but it was Keadue who came out on top. For Strand, with a good mixture of youth and experience, their top performers were Matthew O’ Donnell, James Mc Cole and Cian Magee, while best for Keadue were Oisin Mc Kelvey, Pauric Neely and Barry Curran. Referee: Sean Ferry.
Oldtown Celtic 4 v 0 Kildrum Tigers Reserves
Oldtown were quick out the traps and took the lead after 2 minutes when Micheal Doherty’s header from a Luke Nelis corner found the net. Oldtown soon added a second. Tommy Mc Laughlin burst through and Aaron Hepburn in the Kildrum goal made a great initial save but Sean Cleary was on hand to head home the rebound. Kildrum grew into the game but were unable to test Michael Gibson in the Oldtown goal. 2-0 at the half Oldtown came out for the second half looking to add a third but Hepburn again pulled off another magnificent save from Tommy Mc Laughlin. The game became a battle without any clear-cut chances until Mc Laughlin again burst through and this time crossed for Cleary to add his second header of the day. Hepburn again performed another great save before Micheal Doherty broke through and squared for Lennon Kaswa to add a 4th. A great team performance from Oldtown with Aaron Hepburn standing out for Kildrum.
St. Catherines Reserves 3 v 5 Donegal Town Reserves
Donegal Town capped a dramatic comeback to run out deserving winners at Emerald Park. The home side started brightly and were ahead on 5 minutes when Calvin Mooney finished from close range. Mooney was again on target a minute later when he ran onto a through ball from Josh Cunningham and chipped the keeper. He was on target again on 15 minutes with a similar type goal to complete his hat-trick. It looked comfortable at this stage for the Saints but Donegal reduced the arrears when Dermot Slevin scored from the penalty spot to leave the score 3-1 at half time. The visitors continued to press in the second half and within ten minutes they were level. Slevin reduced the arrears with a long range free kick and a few minutes later Adam Wilson levelled matters with a close-range effort. The visitors edged in front for the first time with 20 minutes remaining when Slevin completed his hat-trick with a fine header. Callum Mc Brearty completed the scoring in injury time with a free-kick from the edge of the box. Best for St Catherines were Calvin Mooney and Josh Cunningham with Dermot Slevin the key man for Donegal.

Old Orchard Saturday Division Two
Castlefin Celtic Reserves 0 v 4 Swilly Rovers Reserves
Castlefin and Swilly played out an entertaining game with plenty of goalmouth action in a game played in Convoy. Castlefin created numerous opportunities with Ruairi Matthewson & Paul Friel going close. In the second period Castlefin eventually ran out of steam and Swilly capitalised with Ryan Mc Daid amongst the goals for the Ramelton side.
Copany Rovers 2 v 3 Ballybofey United Reserves
Ballybofey come from two down to take all 3 points in Dreenan. United started slowly and went two down inside 10 minutes. The first came from a defensive error allowing the attacker to bare in on goal and score past Joe O’ Donnell in the Ballybofey goals. Their second came from good work down the left, with a whipped-in Cross to the back post which was headed back across goal and into O’ Donnell’s net. Ballybofey started to spread the play well with Oran Gallen and Colin Kearns playing well on both wings. They created some good chances but the ball just wouldn’t fall kindly. They were rewarded after 25 minutes when Kieran Thompson found himself in space about 25 yards out and stuck a lovely dipping shot past the Copany keeper. Half Time 1-2. Ballybofey came out firing in the second half and got themselves level within 2 minutes of the half. Again, it was Kieran Thompson who scored, a cracker from the edge of the box into the top corner, a quality finish. United now controlled possession and played some nice neat football, but the chances just wouldn’t come. Ballybofey then brought on Mark Sproule and with his second touch of the ball he scored a beautiful goal from outside the box, giving the keeper no chance. Copany kept fighting and had a great chance to level the game when the ball was laid back to Eamon Bonar 20 yards out but his shot was easily saved.

Erne Wanderers 3 v 1 Fanad United Reserves
On a miserable day in Ballyshannon Erne took the lead after 20 minutes through Gearoid Gallagher. Baz Mulligan soon added a second with a scorcher from 25 yards out. Fifteen minutes into the second half Josh Ritchie got on the end of an Adam Mc Glone free that the keeper parried out to Josh’s head and he duly lobbed him. With 15 minutes left Baibhinn Lynch scored with a crisp shot from the edge of the box that keeper Shaun O’ Boyle got a hand too. With five minutes left and O’ Boyle made an unbelievable save from the same player as he somehow tipped Lynch’s shot onto the crossbar and Erne managed to clear. Best for Erne Ryan Mc Kenna and Donal O’ Reilly while Lynch was the pick of a young Fanad team that played great football throughout
Letterkenny Rovers Reserves 8 v 3 Gweedore United Reserves
A comfortable win for Rovers started with the first goal after just 3 minutes of play when a ball crossed from the left was controlled on chest by Danny Hall before playing it into the box for Darragh Morrison with back to goal scoring an over-head kick. A minute later Rovers were in the box again and the ball landed to Darragh Morrison who stepped inside to score. Gweedore had their first real chance 15 minutes in with a ball played by Callum Ferriter to Dean Collum but he couldn’t get a clear shot. On 19 minutes a great ball to the back post found James Gallagher who put it back across the goal with Darragh Morrison striking only to be saved and cleared by the Gweedore keeper Oran Craig. Evin Gibbons had a great chance for Rovers on 21 minutes from a ball crossed by Danny hall from the right wing with the striker being denied by the crossbar. Gweedore’s Matthew Galway was the next man to add his name to the scoresheet. Arten Tymoshchenko then added to Rover’s tally. Gweedore had another good chance on 32 minutes when Rovers failed to clear and Matthew Galway got through only for Margey to block it from ending in the net. On 40 minutes a ball worked between Kieran Doherty and Evin Gibbons set up Jordan Nugent whose 20-yard shot found the target and gave his side a 4-1 interval lead. The first goal of the second half came on 52 minutes when Kieran Doherty set up Jordan Nugent. DJ Mc Cauley added another on 66 minutes. A few minutes later a Rovers’ free from the left wing was met by Darragh Morrison to head home for his hat-trick. Gweedore were not finished yet and on 75 minutes a free kick from 40 yards out was mishandled by Rovers’ keeper Margey and ended up in the net. Gweedore on 82 minutes broke on the right wing with a nice ball from Cain Gallagher finding Ronan O’ Donnell who put it through for James Mc Glinchey to push it past Rovers’ keeper from about 7 yards. Rovers scored the final goal of the game on 88 minutes when a free kick was driven hard and low from just outside the 18yd box by Darragh Morrison and it made its way into the net.

Fanad United 4 v 0 Milford United
Fanad United overcame local rivals Milford United 4-0 at a sun drenched Traigh-a-Loch on Sunday. It was Milford who had the first chance of the match in the 6th minute when Gary Merritt met an inviting Fionn Coll cross in the box however he was unable to keep his header down. Just 2 minutes later it was Fanad who took the lead. When a Peter Carr cross fell to Keelin Mc Elwaine on the edge of the box, he controlled the ball and hammered the ball home. In the 15th minute, Eddie O’Reilly seen his well hit volley from outside the box go just wide of the Milford post. However just 2 minutes later Fanad doubled their lead. When Eddie O’Reilly crossed into the box, the ball fell to Carlos O’Reilly and he made no mistake finishing into the bottom corner. Milford were creating chances and on 25 minutes Gary Merritt found space in the box but his shot was well saved by Fanad keeper Brian Gallagher. They were made to pay for that miss 2 minutes later when Fanad got their 3rd. A Carlos O’Reilly free from the left was parried by the Milford keeper and Peter Carr was on hand to finish from close range. At the other end, Conor Mc Hugh was unlucky to see his well hit shot deflected just wide. A minute later Gary Merritt was again denied by Brian Gallagher. The second half was a tamer affair with chances hard to come by. Five minutes in, Eddie O’Reilly seen his free kick from 25 yards go just over the Milford bar. With just over an hour gone, Fanad made the game safe with a 4th goal. Keelin Mc Elwaine’s dangerous cross came back off the Milford post and Eoin Logue reacted quickest to bundle home from close range. With 20 minutes, remaining Milford centre half Lorcan Friel rose highest in the box from a corner but his header was kept out by a brilliant save from Brian Gallagher. The last chance fell to Eddie O’Reilly in the 90th minute when his free kick was well held by Killian Hagan in the Milford nets. Referee: Allister Gourley
Keadue Rovers 1 v 1 Castlefin Celtic
It was honours even at a sunny Central Park on Sunday as both teams played out a tight, scrappy encounter. Keadue, playing against a strong breeze, did most of the attacking in the opening twenty minutes but just couldn’t penetrate the away defence. There was a couple of set pieces for Castlefin, one of which they took the lead from on after twenty-five minutes with a well-placed close range free kick. In the closing fifteen minutes, Castlefin had two efforts against the woodwork. Keadue did have a good last five in the first half, with Chris Greene’s shot blocked and then a header cleared off the line. During the half time interval, a Castlefin player had to be treated for a collar bone injury which led to a lot of injury time. We wish the player well in his recovery. At the start of the second half, Castlefin were on top despite being against the wind. Keadue led to some openings and from one of these the home team levelled. A left-wing cross was parried by the keeper and Brendan Mc Cafferty poked home the rebound on fifty five minutes. The visitors were reduced to ten minutes following a second yellow. Despite being a man down, Castlefin dug in and Keadue, despite being well on top, were unable to open them up. Referee: Mick Lagan.
Kildrum Tigers 0 v 2 Swilly Rovers
All three points for the away side at Station Road, in a tight intense game it was the away side who took the lead after Kyle Black pounced on a mistake from Kildrum keeper O’Donnell. Kildrum pushed and had numerous chances both sides of the half, it must be said the Swilly net minder on the day produced one of finest displays at Station Road for long time, his performance alone deserved of the three points, saving from point blank range again and again. As Kildrum pushed late on in the final moment Mc Namee of Swilly produced an excellent finish to double the away sides lead and take all three points.
Kilmacrennan Celtic 1 v 1 St. Catherines
A point apiece at Letterkenny Community Centre and Kilmacrennan remain in joint top of the Premier Division. Kilmacrennan had three good chances in the first 15 minutes after great efforts from Paul Bradley and Rory Mc Grenra but neither could find the net. On 25 minutes Paul Bradley opened scoring for Kilmacrennan when he cooly fired home from inside the box after good work by Terence Shields and Sam Harvey. On 70 minutes St. Catherines got an equaliser from a penalty which Ryan Cunningham converted.
Best for Kilmacrennan was Paul Bradley and it was a team effort from St Catherines. Referee: Zach Mc Laughlin
Temple Domestic Appliances Division One
Bonagee United 2 v 1 Glenea United
The home side should have taken the lead on two minutes when the ball fell to Aiden Mc Laughing and his strike from ten yards was blocked by the goalkeeper. On eight minutes Carr in the home goal had to make a great save to turn the ball around the post from a Micheal Mc Hugh shot from fifteen yards. Michael Funston had a shot three minutes later from twenty-five yards but Coll turned the ball wide for a corner kick. Ciaran Coll and Calvin Murray saw their strike on goal from the edge of the box on eighteen and twenty minutes well saved by Carr in the home goal. Carr again made a great double save on twenty-eight minutes from s strike from PJ Duggan from ten yards and from the rebound the ball fell to Calvin Murray and his strike was well saved. The visitors took the lead on twenty-nine minutes after they were awarded a penalty for a foul in the box by the keeper and Calvin Murray made no mistake from the spot kick. Jordan Armstrong saw his shot from the edge of the box come off the post and cleared by the defender on forty minutes. The home side levelled the match on forty-four minutes when Cian Clancy headed home from an Armstrong corner. On forty-six minutes Aaron Wasson had a great strike on goal from the edge of the box saved by Coll in the visitor’s goal. Carr in the home goal made a very good save on fifty-five minutes when Ciaran Coll broke clear and Carr saved his shot from fifteen yards. A Jordan Armstrong cross into the box from the stand side on the hour beat the keeper but the incoming Aiden Mc Laughlin saw his header go wide of the post from six yards. A Shane Coll free kick on eighty minutes from twenty-five yards was well saved by Carr in the home goal. Referee: Paddy Martin.

Donegal Town 10 v 0 Cappry Rovers
Donegal town welcomed an understrength Cappry to the Hospital Field on a perfect day for football. Town were 4-0 up at half-time from goals by Ronan Mc Hugh, David Graham, Ben Sweeney and Eoin Slevin. Cappry took the game to town in the second-half but the Town defence held firm. It left Cappry exposed at the back and Town took full advantage and goals followed from Digant, Graham again, and Supersub Declan Duignan netting four. Referee: Sean O’ Donnell.
Gweedore United 2 v 1 Lagan Harps
Gweedore United claimed their second home win of the season with the goals coming from young Brian Mc Fadden with his first senior goal for the club and veteran Ciaran Mc Fadden finishing well to secure a vital win for the home side. In the first half, Lagan’s Dylan Doogan’s effort was well saved by Oran Craig. United defended well and restricted Lagan to very few chances. In the 44th minute after a great move where Ciaran Mc Fadden crossed to young Brian who headed in from close range to make it 1-0. Ciaran Mc Fadden’s shot went just over in the 46th minute. In the second half Lagan pressed in search of an equaliser, however, it was United who had the best chances through Padraig Mc Fadden and Brian Mc Fadden. In the 80th minute Dillon Doogan made it 1-1 with a great shot from the edge of the box after a corner. United pushed on for the winner Ronan O’ Donnell had an effort well saved by Toner for Lagan. Gweedore secured the three points with a brilliant finish from Ciaran Mc Fadden in the 84th minute. It was a strong team performance from the home side with Conor Mc Fadden and Frank Mc Gee keeping things tight at the back. Dillon Doogan was a threat for Lagan on the day. Referee: Colm Mc Conigley.
Letterbarrow Celtic 0 v 3 Letterkenny Rovers
Letterkenny visited Tymeen on a day that felt more like mid-summer than October with the temperatures in the high teens. Letterkenny dominated possession and soon found the opener when Ronan Tourish headed home from a well taken set piece. The second half started similarly and Tourish once again put his head onto a well taken set piece to put the away side two up. Letterkenny were awarded a penalty in the dying moments and Tourish slotted it home to complete his hat-trick.
Donegal Physiotherapy and Performance Centre Division Two
Ballybofey United 5 v 1 Raphoe Town
Ballybofey continue their great start to the season by putting five past Raphoe in Dreenan. United started well and nearly went in front on 5 minutes when Paul Kelly put in a great cross but Karlos headed it just wide. Ballybofey took the lead on 14 minutes when Barrie Mc Ghee played a lovely ball into Karlos who controlled it well and gave it to Mark Griffin who finished neatly. With 20 minutes on the clock, United where unlucky to not go two up, when Jude Patton played a good ball back to Daithí Mc Mahon who narrowly fired wide. Raphoe had their first opportunity of the match on 25 minutes when they had a shot from 35 yards but Chris Patton made a great save, tipping it onto the bar. United once again had a great chance to go two up through Aaron Mc Auley but his effort was well saved by the Raphoe keeper. Ballybofey finally found the net again with 40 minutes on the clock when Mark Griffin slips Daithí a through ball up the wing, he squared it to Patton who made it 2-0 at the break. Ballybofey got their 3rd goal of the game when Patton was taken down inside the area. He stepped up himself and made no mistake putting United three up. Patton was soon celebrating a Hat-Trick when he slotted home after Gavin Doherty headed the ball back across the goal from a Mc Ghee cross. With 65 minutes gone Raphoe got themselves on the scoresheet from the penalty spot. It didn’t take long for Ballybofey to bounce back, Griffin whipped in a great cross to Paul Kelly who finished well. Man of the Match: Jude Patton
Drumkeen United 2 v 1 Whitestrand United
Whitestrand were the visitors to St Patrick’s Park on a lovely October Sunday Afternoon. This wasn’t the usual goal fest that Drumkeen supporters have been accustomed to this season but they won’t worry too much about that as they weren’t always on the right end of these high scoring affairs. They went into this game not really knowing what to expect as they were missing several players for various reasons. The first half was an entertaining enough affair with neither goalkeeper being unduly troubled although Drumkeen keeper Paul Mc Cauley did have to make one save. Drumkeen had a good chance at the other end but Dabhan Doherty headed just wide from a corner. The first half was drawing to a close and looked like it was going to end scoreless but then the home team broke the deadlock. The goal when it came was worth waiting for as Dara Patton played a great ball to Dabhan Doherty who saw his shot come back off the Whitestrand Keeper but Drumkeen striker Freddie was on hand to tap the ball home. That was the last action of the first half as referee Vincent Mc Loughlin blew the half time whistle shortly afterwards. Whitestrand began the second half strongly and nearly equalised but Drumkeen defender Mikey Grant was in the right place at the right time to clear the ball off the line. Drumkeen had to weather a bit of a storm for a while which they managed to do. Drumkeen nearly doubled their advantage when Dabhan Doherty played a great ball to Freddie who saw his effort hit the Crossbar. Drumkeen did manage a second goal when Liam Grant crossed the ball into the box towards Fergal Quinn who distracted the keeper as he let the ball run to Freddie who fired home. Even though they were now two goals ahead Drumkeen were never totally comfortable and as the game went on you always felt like the visitors could pull a goal back. With about 15 minutes left the Whitestrand goal duly arrived when John Herrity fired home from a Corner.
The last 15 minutes were a bit of a nervy affair for the home team but they managed to hold out for the victory and the three points. This was an entertaining enough game played in a good Sporting Manner throughout.
Drumoghill F.C. 2 v 4 Deele Harps
Deele Harps ended Drumoghill’s 100% record with this impressive 4-2 win at The Moss with Jordan Duffy helping himself to a brace of goals to set up the win and move Deele further up the table. Drumoghill though will reflect on a game that they dominated for long spells and will wonder how they let this game slip. They had enough chances in a one-sided first half to have already had the game won by half-time, but a sucker punch just before half-time proved to be the game’s turning point. There appeared little or no danger when Duffy took possession of the ball just inside the penalty area and his quick turn and finish into the top corner gave Roy Duffy no chance in goals for Drumoghill to put the visitors ahead at the break. With the elements in their favour in the second half, Deele were much more dominant and quickly doubled their lead when Duffy grabbed his second after a defensive mix-up in the Drumoghill rearguard on 52 minutes. However, a brilliant solo effort strike from Niall Mc Crossan two minutes later reduced the deficit to bring the home side back into the game. The midfielder gained possession inside the centre circle and evaded one tackle after another before hammering an angled drive into the far corner from 10 yards. This should have given Drumoghill the impetus to drive forward in search of an equaliser but Cranford quickly restored their two-goal cushion when Thomas Mullen broke away on 62 minutes to slide the ball beyond Duffy. Back came Drumoghill though and this time it was Karol Mc Ginley who restored the deficit to the minimum with a brilliant strike from just inside the penalty area. However, the home side were guilty of again losing concentration at a key point in the game allowing Maddox Roberts to break away from Seamus Bogle and Stephen Craig to finally settle the contest in favour of the visitors. An entertaining game throughout well handled by Referee Con McLaughlin.
