Letterkenny Athletic Club Notes:
Team Toner produced some fine running in the Woodlands National School 5km race. Lucy Toner ran 23.06 while Paul ran 23:07.
Club member Eoghain McGinley crossed the line in first place in a time of 16:45 followed closely by Philip McGee who ran 17:05, Paul McMonagle ran 20:59, Gary Price 22:01, Frank Pinder 22:38, Denis Shields 24:18 and Jimmy McBride ran 29:20. Well done Ita McGee on a superb run finishing in 24:17.
LAC athlete Kathryn McDevitt competed in the W40 200m final at the European Masters Athletics Championships in Pescara Italy in a time of 27.03 securing a fifth place finish in a very competitive field.
Kathryn has also booked a place in the individual 400m final.
Kathryn’s running prowess also assisted the relay team to win silver in the 4x100m.
Superb running by Kathryn.
Congratulations to Sean McEwen (pictured above), based in Chicago, who ran a personal best of 3:14 in the Berlin Marathon on Sunday.
Ciaran Doherty ran 2.34.40 at the Berlin Marathon.
10,000 miles away, Caitriona Jennings ran 2.38.26 at the Sydney Marathon.
The club’s Annual General Meeting will take place in the Station House Hotel on Monday the 2nd October 2023 at 8pm. All club members are encouraged to attend.
LAC athlete and coach Ciaran McGonagle finished in 2nd place in the gruelling Seven Sisters Skyline run over the weekend. Ciaran completed the 30km challenge in 3:37:42. Well done Ciaran.
LAC meets Tuesday 5.15pm and at 6.30pm for an interval running session, Thursday evening for a hill run at 6pm, Saturday morning at 9.30am for a tempo run and Sunday morning at 8am for a long run.
All runs start at the Aura. All levels catered for and encouraged.
Fit 4 Life which is run by LAC in conjunction with the Donegal Sports Partnership takes place every Monday at 5.45pm on the track at the Aura Leisure Centre Letterkenny.
The aim of the programme is to reach out to those who wish to improve their fitness and all are most welcome any Monday they choose to attend.
Fit 4 Life is not about speed but fitness and the coaches from LAC particularly welcome newcomers.
