28 year old Ballybofey man Anthony Hartnett is to be officially ordained a deacon today.

The ceremony is taking place at 3pm at the Church of Mary Immaculate in Stranorlar this afternoon.

It’s believed to be the first Diaconate Ordnination to take place in the parish.

Anthony, originally from County Wicklow, has been living in County Donegal along with his family for the last ten years, and has been studying for the priesthood at Maynooth since 2016.

Refreshments are to be offered following the ceremony for all attending.
