A solicitor representing a man charged with the murder of a man whose body was found off cliffs in Co Donegal has urged the State to speed up the case.
Alan Vial is charged with the murder of Robert Wilkin on June 25th last at a place unknown within the State.
Vial, 38, appeared by videolink at Letterkenny District Court today.
A co-accused, Nikita Burns, 21, also appeared separately in court by videolink.
Both are charged that on the 25th of June, 2023 at a place unknown within the State, did murder one Robert Wilkin (also known as Robin Wilkin.)
Vial’s solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, said that given the nature of the offence he was asking the State to put a priority on the matter.
He said he had understood the case was in today for the service of a book of evidence on his client.
However, he was told that the book of evidence for Vial, of Drumanoo Head, Killybegs, was not ready yet.
“It is starting to build up on the dates coming before the court,” said Mr Gallagher.
Garda Sergeant Gerard Dalton said he will note the urgency of Mr Gallagher’s representation and will follow-up on the issue today.
The case was adjourned until October 2nd for the service of the book of evidence.
Mr Rory O’Brien appeared for Nikita Burns.
The court was told that directions in that case due from the Director of Public Prosecutions are still outstanding.
That case was also adjourned until October 2nd.
