A motorist was arrested last night following a cross-border operation involving Gardaí and the PSNI.
Members of the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit responded to a call in relation to a driver who was suspected to be driving while under the influence. They observed the vehicle in question in the Letterkenny area, but the driver failed to stop when signalled to do so by Gardaí.
The vehicle was subsequently driven onwards and across the border. The assistance of the PSNI was requested and the vehicle returned back into Donegal again a short time later. The driver was then arrested by Gardaí and charged to appear in court.
“A number of Garda Units from various areas were involved in the successful interception of this vehicle and the assistance given by the PSNI was also highly contributory towards the successful outcome,” a garda spokesperson said.
“Do not take risks on the roads. Never drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.”
