Young Letterkenny jockey Patrick McGettigan continues to impress as he had another good day at the office at the final meeting of the Northwest season yesterday.
He landed a first and last race double at the Carrickadawson Races, near St Johnston.
Patrick got the ball rolling in the opener when Wee Bucks made every single yard of the journey 148cm event, running out a gutsy winner from Little Chief and Five Stone Of Lead.
McGettigan capped off a fine afternoon when King Of The Hill, who ran a blinder in the Dingle Derby last month, regained the winning thread beating Here We Go Again and Tommy K in impressive style in the two-mile open.
Other local riders to have mounts on the day were Fintown jockey, Tiernan McGill, and Ballyare man, Jamie Orr. Although they didn’t visit the winners enclosure, they certainly are the future going into next season.
That’s the season completed and the committee would like to thank everyone who lent a hand and to field owner Noel Devine, Colin Craig and Goudie brothers Transport for their generosity and kindness, and not forgetting all the sponsors.
