A man had to be rescued from Errigal this afternoon after suffering a cardiac arrest.

He collapsed on Donegal’s highest mountain at around 1pm. The ambulance was called who, in turn, notified Malin Head Coast Guard due to the difficult terrain.

The coast guard tasked the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) volunteers and the Sligo-based Rescue 118 helicopter. The man was subsequently airlifted to Letterkenny University Hospital.
