Donegal native Sean McGinley has been confirmed for a special pre-festival launch of the Allingham Festival after having to pull out from the original schedule.
McGinley, who was born in Pettigo, was set to appear at the winter arts festival later this year.
However, after being cast in an off-Broadway production of Brian Friel’s Translations, he regrettably had to cancel other engagements.
Organisers of the Allingham Arts Festival have now shared the good news that Sean McGinley will attend a pre-Festival Launch of the 2023 Allingham Festival on Wednesday 13 September in the Abbey Centre, Ballyshannon. Reception 7:30, programme 8 pm. Admission free.
McGinley, known for stage and screen dramas including Braveheart and Love/Hate, will reflect on his career and his Broadway plans.
Allingham Festival organisers, delighted to announcing this week’s event, said: “Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Sean recall his early days in Pettigo in Ballyshannon before taking the stage in Galway. Which stars of world theatre and cinema will he recall? Richard Harris or Stephen Rea? Martin Scorsese or Sam Shepard? Garry Hynes or Jim Sheridan? We can’t wait to find out.”
