Buncrana woman Dawn Lambe has been congratulated for attending her first call-out with the Lough Swilly RNLI crew at the weekend.
Dawn is the fourth woman to join the Lough Swilly station.
Dawn and her colleagues were in action yesterday evening when a mayday distress call was made about a kayaker in difficulty.
The crew aboard the inshore lifeboat made their way to the Tullagh Bay area at 8.15pm.
They were stood down after the kayaker made their way to safety.
“A special mention to Dawn Lambe who was involved in her first shout this evening, well done Dawn,” said a spokesperson for Lough Swilly RNLI.
“Remember if you’re in difficulty in or on the water or see someone in trouble, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
