The Killybegs Seafood Shack has gained a stellar score from the UK’s Number One Food Reviewer!
This past week, Matthew Davies-Binge of Food Review Club made it his mission to check out the famous takeaway hut on the harbour.
And he was blown away by his meal!
“That fish is so far beyond any fish I’ve ever had,” Matt said of the Atlantic haddock.

Matt’s video has racked up over 170,000 videos in two days, putting Donegal seafood on the map and creating an appetite among established fans of the Seafood Shack.
Matt’s visit to Killybegs was expected to be a highlight of his Irish tour long before he reached Donegal.
The shack, he said, was the “Mount Everest” of his trip.
“This is hallowed turf, we’ve been to very famous places and this is spoken about in the same regard,” he said.
At first, he described the meal as “fairly unassuming”.
Soon, he was swearing with delight at the flavours and freshness of the haddock, sourced from Molloy’s in Killybegs.
“It’s like butter, like the wagu of steak,” he said.
“The batter is not my favourite style but the fish is so good, the best I’ve ever had.”
The final score was a prestigious 9.8.
Reacting to the view, Seafood Shack co-owner Mairead Anderson breathed a sigh of relief and wrote: “What an unbelievable review. This just makes my day. Molloy’s Fish Killybegs, thanks as always for your beautiful fish and extremely hard graft.”
The Killybegs Seafood Shack is usually a seasonal business, open seven days a week, but the good news is that Mairead, Gary and the team hope to keep trading into October.
Matt’s Irish food tour, in partnership with R KINGS Competitions, also included no-holds-barred reviews of the Four Lanterns (score 7.3) and Apache Pizza in Donegal Town (score 5.8).
