Tributes have been paid from across Donegal to former Raphoe teacher and diocesan reader Margaret Boyd.
Ms Boyd passed away at her home in Carrickfinn.
She was a kind and gentle woman of great faith whose teaching left a lasting legacy with her students at Royal & Prior.
Her death is being mourned by the Derry and Raphoe Diocesan family, of which she was a devout member of her parish.
Bishop Andrew Forster has added his condolences to the many offered by those who knew Ms Boyd.
“First I wish to express sympathy with the Boyd family who must be feeling this loss very deeply. The sense of loss is shared by all of us in the wider diocesan family,” the Rt Revd Andrew Forster said.
“Margaret’s faith was not reserved for the pews. She lived it day in and day out, in every aspect of her life.
“She gave a lifetime of service to our Church, to her parish and to her community. She was an outstanding teacher at Royal & Prior School, a faithful and committed member of her parish, and gave generously of her time and talents as a Diocesan Reader. She was heavily involved, too, in youth ministry. Margaret was a good and faithful servant, whose passing will be mourned well beyond her beloved Carrickfinn.
“This is a sad time for the Boyd family circle and for all of us who knew Margaret. But I thank God for the many blessings she brought us in His name. May Margaret rest in peace and rise in glory.”
Ms Boyd’s Funeral Service will take place on Sunday, at 2.15pm in St Andrews Church in Carrickfinn, with burial afterwards in Bunbeg Cemetery. The house is private from 10pm until 10am.
