RTE’s longest running factual series ‘Ear to the Ground’ will visit Donegal this weekend.
The show, which offers a fresh, new look at how rural Ireland is changing, is in the county this Saturday to film for a show to be aired this Autumn.
The show will focus on John Graham’s Ballyholey Farm that has seen much diversification in recent years.
The film crew will also be going along to Saturday morning’s Real Food and Farmers Market in Letterkenny prior to going to Ballyholey.
Here, the crew will capture a novel idea that John launched a few years ago known as ‘Dig your own Dinner’. This now annual event sees families come along to the farm when they go into the field and literally dig their own dinner.
The popularity of this event has grown so much since its inception that this Saturday is the second dig of its kind this season with all members of the family participating.
Saturday’s 2.30pm event will be followed by Líonra Leitir Ceanainn’s Irish dig at 4pm.
Ear to the Ground will also have their cameras out on the farm to see how John is coping with the ever changing farming life in modern day Ireland.
The 2.30pm ‘Dig your Dinner’ event is sold out but there are a few places available for the 4pm and to find out if there is a place for you please contact Líonra Leitir Ceannain.
All are welcome to come along to the Saturday morning market at Port Road where you could become part of the programme that will be shown on RTÉ this autumn.
The film crew will be there between 9am and 10am.
