A fund has been launched to help a young Donegal father rebuild his life following an horrific workplace accident.
Dillon Feely (27), from Ballyshannon, was operating a truck-mounted crane on a narrow country road last Tuesday when it struck an overhead powerline.
The father of one suffered horrific burns and was subsequently airlifted to St James Hospital in Dublin where he is currently being treated.
Medical professionals are amazed that Dillon has survived. Unfortunately, however, due to his injuries, he has had one of his legs amputated. He is not out of the woods yet and is facing a long and difficult recovery.

“Dillon is only 27 years old, and he has a long life ahead of him,” a family friend told Donegal Daily.
“But his accident has put his family’s plans on hold. Doctors have warned that Dillon may be in various hospitals in Dublin for the next 12 months of recovery. During this time, he will have to undergo extensive treatment and adapt to his new life with life-changing injuries.”
At this critical time, Dillon’s partner, Aine, along with his parents Connie and David, are by his bedside in Dublin, offering their unwavering support.
However, this tragic accident has also created financial strains for the family. As a result, a GoFundMe page has been set up in order to ease the burden on them.
“We, Dillon’s extended family, have decided to launch this GoFundMe campaign to lend a helping hand in any way we can. Dillon is a fighter, and he is determined to recover from this accident. With your help, Dillon and his family can focus on healing and rebuilding their life.”
