A handsome Staffy has been revealed as the Donegal contestant in Ireland’s ‘Nose of Tralee’.
The pawsome competition takes place each summer to celebrate our beloved furry friends.
The Donegal entry this year has quite a ‘tail’ to tell.
Bono, who is owned by Donegal musician Aoife Feeney, is a three-legged boy who has had a rough start to life.
Aoife tells his story: “Having been taken from an abusive situation at 5 months old where he was beaten and starved, he found himself in a better home.
“Unfortunately, he then lost a leg having been hit by a car and a few months later, his owner sadly passed away.
“Regardless of the awful things he’s been through in his two(ish) years, he is the friendliest, most loving companion and I’d be lost without him. Seeing him come out of his shell and allow himself to be a dog is so heartwarming and knowing he’s happy means everything.”
Aoife continues: “From the fear he experienced the first time I took him to the beach to now, when he whines to get out and bomb into the waves is the best thing ever.. and I think having 4 legs would probably show him down!
“He loves kids, he loves people and he is loving his new life here in Donegal. Being crowned the Nose of Tralee 2023 would be the icing on the cake!”
There are 27 tail-wagging dogs and 5 fabulous felines battling it out for the grand title of the 2023 Nose of Tralee. The winner will be announced live on a Facebook Live on the 22nd August and will receive prizes from Pet Sitters Ireland, Tesco Ireland and David MCauley Photography.
Voting for the Nose of Tralee starts from today, the 3rd of August all the way up to midnight on the 21st of August.
