Daniel O’Donnell has expressed his sympathy with Sinead O’Connor’s family and recalled a hilarious night they spent together.
The singers, very unlikely allies, were paired together for RTE’s ‘Who Wants to Be A Millionaire’ back in 2001.
The pair scooped £32,000 for charity after incorrectly guessing their €125,000 question.
The show was hosted by the late Gay Byrne, himself a personal friend to both Sinead and Daniel.
The pair, coming from completely different backgrounds both personally and professionally, struck up an instant relationship in screen that had viewers in fits of laughter.
Hours after Sinead’s untimely passing on Wednesday, Daniel remembered the great fun they had together making the show on what was one of the few times they met.
“I was sad to hear of the passing of Sinead O Connor. She had an amazing talent.
“I didn’t know her well but we had great fun the night we were paired together on Who wants to be a Millionaire.
“My sympathy to her family at this very sad time. Rest in peace Sinead.”
