Donegal’s World Cup heroes Amber Barrett and Ciara Grant have admitted they are hugely disappointed to go out of the tournament in Australia but have vowed to fight on.
Ireland were beaten 2-1 by Canada on Wednesday ending their chances of qualifying for the next round.
But the two local stars have taken to Instagram to tell their fans that the battle goes on.
Milford woman Amber was a second half substitute in the games but unfortunately couldn’t score that vital goal which could have kept Ireland’s dreams alive.
AMber wrote “A lifetime waiting on something that ends so untimely.
“A dream come true to represent my country in a World Cup game, a moment that I will never forget.
“The roar from the Irish fans when Katie McCabe sent us into wild jubilation, is something I will never forget.
“We still have one more step to make on this WC journey and we want to give something back to without any doubt, the best fans in the world. #COYGIG.”
Letterkenny star Ciara unfortunately hasn’t got any game time yet to prove her ability on the pitch.
She shared Katie McCabe’s joy and said all focus is now on the final game against Nigeria.
Ciara wrote “A moment I’ll never forget, and of course it was our Katie McCabe scoring our first ever goal at a World Cup.
“Tough lessons learned but we refocus now and hope to go out on a high in the last game!”
