World Drowning Prevention Day will take place on Tuesday 25th July and the theme for this year is ‘Do One Thing, Improve One Thing or Add One Thing’.
Members of Donegal Surf Lifesaving club wore blue for training on Sunday evening on Killahoey Beach in Dunfanaghy.
The younger club members were given a tour of the lifeguard hut by local lifeguard and member of Surf Lifesaving Ireland’s nation team Bea.
She gave them a very informative safety talk and they learned how to throw a ringbouy.
Knowing how to throw a ringbuoy is an important life skill and this World Drowning Prevention Day is an opportunity to learn how.
There are informative videos available to view on worlddrowningpreventionday.ie on the technique of throwing a ringbuoy.
Water Safety Ireland members across the country can involved by “Going Blue” for World Drowning Prevention Day.
