A victory in the Elites is the next target for Dungloe’s Matthew McCole in his quest towards Olympic qualification.
Big tests lie ahead for the 24-year-old, who has his sights set on the last remaining spot in the Olympic squad heading to Paris.
McCole talked to Donegal Daily this week about his move to Illies and his goal for the months to come.
The Illies Golden Gloves boxer will be travelling to America at the start of September for two fights to build up his quality sparring experience.
After that, he’ll be entering the Celtic Box Cup in Dungarvan.
Overall, his goal is to win the National Elite championships in November to qualify for Paris.
