A very rare visitor is drawing crowds of bird lovers to the Blanket Nook wildlife sanctuary in Newtowncunningham.
The Black-Winged Pratincole, from Eastern Europe/Middle East, appeared there over the weekend. As a result, people are travelling from all over the country to try and catch a glimpse. It has spent the last few days catching insects around the basin.
Reportedly, it’s only the third time that sightings of the bird have been recorded in Ireland.
