Community Garda Drop in Clinic
The Community Garda Drop In scheduled to take place on Thursday 13th July has now been postponed and will take place on Thursday 20 th July between 6pm-7pm. If you need passport/forms signed/stamped or information or guidance, feel free to call in. *NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY*
Autumn/Winter
We are busy bee’s here at the Centre planning for the coming months! Up and coming courses will include Art, Crochet, Zumba, (subject to funding) Women’s Health & Social Inclusion Programme, ASIST – Applied suicide intervention skills training. Donegal Volunteer Centre
Donegal volunteer Centre staff will be in attendance at Raphoe Family Resource Centre on Wednesday 9 th August from 10.00AM to 1PM. Providing information to groups and organisations on the placement of volunteers, advice, training, governance and best practice and also assisting individuals, recruiting places and providing support to volunteers. Helping Hands Scheme
Do you live alone or are no longer in a position, due to age or disability, to carry out odd jobs? Raphoe Family Resource Centre, supported by DLDC Tus Scheme have a helping hands project where odd jobs can be carried out such as grass cutting, path clearing, tidy ups, painting etc. Only outdoor work is permitted. Unfortunately, with the increased costs of fuel and materials we are no longer able to provide this service free of charge. From Monday 3rd July there will be a €5 euro charge for all work carried out and €15 euro for power washing. Raphoe Men’s Shed
The Men’s Shed group meets every Thursday at 12 Noon in “The Shed”. If you have a few hours to spare why not come along and join in! Family Support
As a parent or guardian, parenting is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do, however the Family Resource Centre recognises at times life throws up challenges and these can be overwhelming. Some examples of the support we can offer; making routines, establishing boundaries and dealing with challenging behaviours. The Family Resource Centre can help through listening ear, parenting programmes, one to one support, and a drop-in clinic to offer support on issues that are affecting home life. Youth Support Worker – CE scheme conditions apply
Donegal Youth Service are looking to recruit a youth Support Worker for the Family Resource Centre, Raphoe 19.5 hours per week, applicants must be 21 years and over and 1 year unemployed/receipt of a social welfare payment. Raphoe Walking Group
Raphoe Walking Group will continue to meet every Thursday morning at 10.30am, here in the FRC during the summer period. Come along and join the group for a walk and a cuppa!!
Seniors Alert Scheme
Raphoe Family Resource Centre is registered under Pobal’s Senior Alert Scheme to provide personal alarms to those over 65 years living alone for significant periods of time during the day, or is a carer to someone else in their household. The purpose of the scheme is to enable older persons of limited means to continue to live securely in their own homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind providing them with a free personal monitored alarm which can be worn as a pendant or around their wrist like a watch. S.T.A.R.T Project
Would you like to talk to someone about your concerns around drugs/alcohol? Free, confidential – non-judgemental service providing up to date information and practical supports, including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness practices, Brief Solution Focus Therapy and the Smart Recovery Principles. Drop in Group/Individuals every Monday 10am-12pm in the Raphoe Family Resource Centre. Letterkenny C.D.P is a community Development Project providing a Community Response to Alcohol/Drug misuse throughout Co. Donegal. Rainbows Programme
Rainbows Ireland provides peer group support to children and young people who have been impacted following bereavement or parental separation or a divorce.
When significant change and loss happens in a family, the entire family can be affected, including children and young people. Children and young people can generally find it difficult to understand their feelings and often do not have the words to express how they feel. Rainbows provides group support for children of a similar age and loss experience. Meeting others in a similar situation can be very supportive for children and young people.
- Rainbows is not a counselling group or professional therapy.
- It is a free service.

Raphoe Tidy Towns
Raphoe Tidy Towns have a vacancy on their Community Employment Project for a Shop worker in the local SVP shop in Raphoe. Dept of Social Protection eligibility criteria for Community Employment applies for this post. The job is part time for 19.5 hrs per week. Local History Project
Do you have any old photos of the town or surrounding district? Any subject matter will be welcome to be part of the towns collection. Subjects such as weddings, community days/activities, individuals, sporting events, school photos, farming, bands, Christmas, snow, or any subject. Original photos will be scanned/copied & returned. Volt House
The community room is available free to local groups or individuals at the Volt House Raphoe. The room is ideal for groups to hold meetings. This room has been kindly funded by local businesses and may be booked via reception. For further information please telephone Reception on 074 9173966.
A new sign has been erected for the Raphoe Heritage and Tourism hub, a wonderful addition to the Volt House. The sign looks fabulous especially against the backdrop of the beautiful summer blooms, supplied by Raphoe Tidy Towns. The new cards, as part of the Raphoe Town and Village renewal programme are proving very popular, depicting the Diamond doors, and also Amy Kinsella’s Street scape of the Diamond, they are blank note cards and are ideal for any occasion, Birthdays, Anniversaries, thank you’s, or a great way to say Hello to family and friends abroad.
Raphoe Boxing Club
The local boxing club had 4 boxers representing Donegal at the William Wallace Box Cup in Stirling Scotland on Friday, Saturday and Sunday last. Taylor Parke made it to the final but came out on the wrong side of a 3-2 decision and had to settle for a silver medal, Rian Patton, Gary Mc Namara and David Tennyson all lost out at the semi-final stages and the Donegal team returned with 4 gold and 2 silver medals. On Saturday next club boxer David Tennyson will box in the quarter finals of the National Senior Cadet Championships in Dublin and all at the club extend good wishes for every success to David and his coaches.
