Local county councillor John O’Donnell has been revealed as the new owner of the Waters Edge Restaurant and Hotel in Rathmullan.
The stunning hostelry on the shores of Lough Swilly has been closed for a number of years.
It was previously owned by the Blaney Group.
The 9,935 sq foot property was put on the market earlier this summer by Property Partners Paul Reynolds and Co in Letterkenny.
Although no price was advertised on the property, it is believed the asking price was around €800,000.
Councillor O’Donnell, who already owns O’Donnell’s Bar in Kilmacrennan, confirmed this week that he has purchased the famous Rathmullan development.
As well as a stunning restaurant, the premises also boasts a number of ensuite rooms for guests.
Work has already started on renovating the premises and it is understood it is hoped to have the premises reopened in the coming weeks.
