Hundreds of people from across Derry and Donegal joined the Rev Shaun Doherty on Sunday as he entered a new life in the priesthood.
From the Ordination in St Eugene’s Cathedral to the welcome reception in the IOSAS Centre in Muff, it was a blessed day of warm wishes, friendship and smiles.
Shaun Doherty was one of the country’s top DJs thanks to his popular chatshow on Donegal’s Highland Radio which aired for almost 30 years. Six years ago, he decided to follow his calling and quit his job behind the microphone. He went on to study to become a priest and was later ordained a Deacon at St Paul’s Basilica in Rome in 2022.
Shaun officially received the Sacrament of Holy Orders on Sunday by Bishop Donal McKeown in St Eugene’s Cathedral, surrounded by friends, family, the priests and the community of the Diocese.
