An Irish man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was strangled to death at a hotel in the Spanish holiday resort of Salou.
The female victim, aged 36, is believed to be the suspect’s partner. She was strangled to death. Her body was discovered in a corridor of the Magnolia Hotel in Salou on Sunday night.
Police arrested a 30-year-old man, who was taken to hospital with what is reportedly a self-inflicted wound.
A spokesman for the regional Mossos d’Esquadra police force said:
“When they arrived at the scene, the officers found a woman lying on the floor and a man next to her with a self-inflicted wound.
“Although emergency medical responders tried to revive the woman, they were finally only able to certify her death.
“Officers arrested the man as the alleged perpetrator of the death.”
