A man who was caught driving at 109kph in a 80kph zone has been fined €120 in his absence.
Johnny Crumlish failed to appear at Letterkenny District Court.
Sergeant Jim Collins said Crumlish was representing himself but failed to answer letters including the latest once sent to him on April 4th last.
Garda Fiona McFadden told the court she stopped a red Ford Transit van in St Johnston on June 12th, 2020 after detecting the van driving at 109kph in an 80kph zone.
She spoke to the driver who gave his name as Johnny Crumlish of Skeoge Road in Derry.
A fixed penalty notice was issued but it remained unpaid.
Judge Brendan O’Reilly said that fixed notice had now jumped from €80 to €160.
Judge O’Reilly said he was fixing the fine at €120 and allowed the accused six months to pay.
