East Donegal Pony Club had a successful day in Sligo yesterday when 5 competing members each qualified for the National Pony Club Championships taking place in Wexford next month.
Up against riders from the other Area 6 counties of Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo, Longford and Roscommon, the Donegal girls excelled in their classes.
Sophie Bonner from Dungloe, riding Riverfield Kannafanta placed 1st, with Creeslough’s Éabha Brennan, on Millfields Killnascully, placed 2nd in the Junior Combined Training.
Chloe McGlynn from Milford placed 2nd in the Senior Combined Training.
In the Junior Team Showjumping, Éabha Brennan and Sophie Bonner both jumped clear to secure the 1st place position for their amalgamated Donegal/Leitrim Team.
The Donegal Team’s success continued in the Senior Showjumping competition, with Milford’s Ellie Simms on Carnone Diamond Beach jumping clear to finish in 2nd place, while Tara Brennan, Creeslough also jumped double clear, finishing in 3rd place.
All five riders will now represent Area 6 at the Championship Finals in Wexford in July.
