Raphoe Family Resource Centre provide Computer and internet access, photocopying, CV preparation and weekly employment lists via email. A crafty connection
A fun and creative workshop facilitated by Donegal Women’s Collective will take place in the Family Resource Centre on Thursday 29th June from 7pm–9pm. Decorate your own oil burner and create your very own wax melts. Workshop cost is €10. Places are limited to book your place contact Marie on 0873641503. This workshop is part funded by Donegal ETB community education support programme.
Raphoe Men’s Shed
The Men’s Shed group meet every Thursday at 12 Noon in “The Shed”. If you have a few hours to spare why not come along and join in! The men are planning a few day/walking trips over the next few weeks and have just completed art classes with Marty! For more info contact Marie on 0749145796/0873641503.
Family support
As a parent or guardian, parenting is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do, however the Family Resource Centre recognises at times life throws up challenges and these can be overwhelming. Some examples of the support we can offer; making routines, establishing boundaries and dealing with challenging behaviours
The Family Resource Centre can help through listening ear, parenting programmes, one to one support, and a drop-in clinic to offer support on issues that are affecting home life. Youth Support Worker – CE scheme conditions apply
Donegal Youth Service are looking to recruit a youth Support Worker for the Family Resource Centre, Raphoe 19.5 hours per week, applicants must be 21 years and over and 1 year unemployed/receipt of a social welfare payment. Raphoe Walking Group
Raphoe Walking Group will continue to meet every Thursday morning at 10.30am, here in the FRC during the summer period. Come along and join the group for a walk and a cuppa!
Senior Alert Scheme
Raphoe Family Resource Centre is registered under Pobal’s Senior Alert Scheme to provide personal alarms to those over 65 years living alone for significant periods of time during the day, or is a carer to someone else in their household. The purpose of the scheme is to enable older persons of limited means to continue to live securely in their own homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind providing them with a free personal monitored alarm which can be worn as a pendant or around their wrist like a watch.

S.T.A.R.T. Project
Would you like to talk to someone about your concerns around drugs/alcohol? Free, confidential – non-judgemental service providing up to date information and practical supports, including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness practices, Brief Solution Focus Therapy and the Smart Recovery Principles. Drop in Group/Individuals every Monday 10am-12pm in the Raphoe Family Resource Centre. Letterkenny C.D.P is a community Development Project providing a Community Response to alcohol/drug misuse throughout Co. Donegal.
We provide non-judgemental support guidance and education to drug/alcohol users, their families and the community. Contact our Outreach worker for the Finn Valley area, Karen Gallen on 087 388 5080.
Raphoe Boxing Club
Congratulations to standout boxer the “Blonde Bomber” Taylor Parke who was crowned National Junior Cadet Champion on Saturday last in Dublin and this was Taylors second National Championship title in a matter of 8 weeks, having won the National Schoolboy title back in April. Taylor returned home from Dublin on Saturday evening to a hero’s welcome and was driven around the town accompanied by over 30 cars.
Well done Taylor and your hard working coaches Gary Mc Cullagh and Gerry Keaveney. Next up for Taylor and his clubmates Rian Patton, Ryley Doherty, David Tennyson and Gary Mc Namara and his coaches Gary and Gerry will be on 6 th July when they travel to Sterling in Scotland for the William Wallace Box Cup. Good wishes to everyone from all at the local boxing club.
Raphoe Tidy Towns Local History Project
Have you any old photos of the town or surrounding district. Any subject matter will be welcome to be part of the towns collection. Subjects such as weddings, community days/activities, individuals, sporting events, school photos, farming, bands, Christmas, snow, or any subject.
Original photos will be scanned/copied and returned. Please call in and ask for Hilary on Mondays, Thursdays 9.30am until 4pm or Fridays. 9.30am until 3.30pm. Further information from the Tidy Towns Office 074 9145692.
Volt House
The community room is available free to local groups or individuals at the Volt House Raphoe. The room is ideal for groups to hold meetings. This room has been kindly funded by local businesses and may be booked via reception. For further information please telephone Reception on 074 9173966.
We would like to thank everyone who came out last Saturday 17th June to welcome Michael Cunningham to Raphoe. Michael walked from Scotland to Raphoe, in memory of his grandfather Vincent Hamilton (R.I.P.) who left Raphoe in 1947 and sadly died last year. Michael was raising funds for Alzheimer’s Scotland.
On Saturday 24th June there will be a car boot sale in the Diamond, Raphoe from 8am to 2pm to raise funds for Mary’s
