Woman produced hammer during dispute in Letterkenny

A woman has been charged with producing a claw hammer during the course of a dispute at the weekend in Letterkenny.

Catherine Davern appeared before a special sitting of Letterkenny District Court on Sunday.

The 33-year-old of Fortwell Court, Lower Main Street, Letterkenny, was arrested following the alleged incident on Saturday.

Evidence of her arrest, charge and caution were given to the court by Sergeant Jim Collins.

Davern was charged with while appearing to commit an offence, to wit, Section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences Against The Person Act, 1997, assault causing harm, in the course of a dispute, produce in a manner likely unlawfully to intimidate another person, an article capable of inflicting serious injury, to wit, a claw hammer.

Davern was represented by solicitor Mr Patsy Gallagher.

The accused was ordered to sign on once a week at Letterkenny Garda Station and provide Gardai with a contact number at which she must be available 24/7.

Judge Ciaran Liddy adjourned the case until September 18 for directions.
