A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued today for Donegal as ESB crews work to restore power to more than 1,000 homes hit by outages caused during last night’s storms.
The warning will be in effect from 10am to 10pm and include Cavan Monaghan, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath and all of Munster and Connacht.
Met Éireann said the thunderstorms will bring frequent lightning, heavy downpours, gusty winds and the chance of hail.
Crews worked throughout the night and around 1,000 customers, mainly in south west Donegal, are still without power this morning.
In Ulster, today will be another showery day with some turning heavy in the afternoon heavy with the potential for thunderstorms and local flooding. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees Celsius in light to moderate southeast breezes
Tonight residual thundery showers will soon die away with just isolated showers following. Some mist or fog in place though with just light southwest breezes. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees Celsius.
