Motorists in Letterkenny and Donegal town faced lengthy delays last night at the end of the first day of the Donegal International Rally.
Thousands of motorsport lovers have descended on the county for three days of racing.
Gardaí, the HSE and Fire Service are based at the control room at Rally HQ (below) in the Mount Errigal Hotel.
However, motorists complained of huge tailbacks last night.

One driver said it took them one-and-a-half hours just to get from Lurgybrack National School to the Polestar Roundabout in Letterkenny. Similar delays were reported in and around Donegal town.
Due to the sheer volume of traffic, Gardaí have appealed to all motorists to be patient and to leave in good time.

Today, the rally moves to the north of the county for stages in Ramelton, Milford and the famous Knockalla Drive.
After Day 1 in south Donegal, defending champion Josh Moffett held a 4.9 second lead overnight ahead of Callum Devine. Early results this morning, however, show the pair swapping the lead in what should be a fascinating day of racing.
