A woman has appeared in court after assaulting two Gardai during a disturbance at a Letterkenny hotel.
Pauline McGirr, 41, of Mill Street, Aughnacloy, County Tyrone, kicked a Garda on the torso and another garda on the leg at the Clanree Hotel.
Gardai had been called to a disturbance at the hotel. McGirr was said to have been acting in an ‘abusive, insulting and aggressive’ manner when the assistance of Gardai was sought by the night porter.
After throwing leaflets from the counter all over the lobby, McGirr became verbally aggressive towards Gardai.
After kicking one Garda on the torso kicked another Garda on the leg as she was being escorted from the premises.
Mr Patsy Gallagher, solicitor for McGirr, said his client is from a well-known family in the Aughnacloy area. The family suffered a traumatic event in the 1990s while she was in her teenage years, Mr Gallagher said.
The solicitor said that McGirr had shown remorse and wished to put the matter behind her.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham said she would ‘find it difficult’ not to record a conviction against McGirr.
“The difficulty is that she assaulted two Gardai,” Judge Cunningham said.
The matter was adjourned until October 23.
