A man who stole four cans of cider from a Letterkenny supermarket has been told that his ‘behaviour has to stop’.
Myles Connors, 46, of Neil T Blaney Road, Letterkenny appeared before Letterkenny District Court in connection with an incident on November 4, 2022.
Connors is charged with stealing four cans of Linden Village cider worth €8 from Tesco.
Connors appeared at court on foot of a bench warrant after presenting himself to Letterkenny Garda Station. Garda Matthew Lenehan gave evidence of arresting Connors.
The court heard that Connors entered Tesco at 4.45pm and took four cans of cider. Sergeant Collins said Connors was cooperative and made full admissions.
The property was recovered, the court was informed.
Solicitor Mr Patsy Gallagher, representing Connors, said a member of security saw Connors carrying out the act and apprehended him immediately.
Sergeant Collins said the accused has 31 previous convictions, most for a varying amount of public order offences.
“He is known to the court and is easily detectable,” Mr Gallagher said, adding that his client is ‘dealing with a disease’.
“The behaviour has to stop,” said Judge Éiteáin Cunningham. “It can’t continue.”
Judge Cunningham directed the preparation of a Probation and Welfare report and remanded Connors on bail. Judge Cunningham said the court would offer any assistance to ‘aid in his recovery’.
